Time for a quick book break.
I like Dee Henderson anyway as a writer, but the timing of when I read this book made me appreciate her work even more. I enjoyed the slight mystery and the relationship learning. However, what I especially appreciated about this book was the gentle way Dee shared the life of our country’s military families. I know only a few military families and have heard so many stories of deployment, but I’ve always heard those stories from the place of memories. It was so different to read it as if it were current issues at stake. The hardships were walked through from the aspect of brother/sister and husband/wife and “short-term” deployments. As a result of this story I have found myself praying for military families differently, in a way – more personally. I know the story was fictional, but I imagine there were elements not at all too far from truth in the real world.
** I was given a copy of this book to review from Bethany House. Even though they gave me the book, the opinions are my own.**
