Two years ago today we were on a plane. Just over half way from Seattle, WA to Tokyo, Japan…six hours into the 2nd of three flights. we had had already flown 3.5 hours & hung out the Seattle airport for nearly 8 very long hours.
Vince was returning to the Philippines. Christine & I were going for our first trip out of the Country (I have been thru Canada a few times, and into Mexico for a couple hours once)
Even though we hadn’t been able to breathe any real air for nearing 24 hours – we had another 24 hours to go.
We were almost exactly half way from home to family.
Our adventure was just beginning…
We left home on Wednesday night to drive to the airport … it was sunset on Friday evening when we landed in Tokyo. (remember, we jumped 16 or 17 hours ahead)
Oh, how my heart aches for the remembering. Such amazing memories. Such a wonderful blessing that our Heavenly Father loves each of us so much, to provide in such a way. for such a trip.
So many people love my brother, his wife & children (and us) – enough to send my children & I to our family to help them. My brother & his wife are missionaries with New Tribe Missions – they are the support system for the missionaries in the tribe, he flies the helicopter in with all their supplies – groceries & house stuff. if someone is sick or injured, whether missionary family member or someone from the tribe – he goes & picks them up, bringing/taking them to medical help.
We went for two months, to be an encouragement to them. To simply help in everyday life while their co-workers were on furlough here in the States. Lots of library supplies had been sent over & arrived before we got there – I helped my sister-in-law set up the library/homeschool resources library for the missionary families to use when they come into town, or to check out and have sent to them in the tribe. I homeschooled the kids so my sister-in-law could flight follow, do all the random things she wished she could get to, or just take a break. Their co-workers live in the house literally next-door, while we were there that is where we lived. So, we got to have early mornings/late nights/numerous sleep overs as if we were all in the same house – but we had space when needed/desired.
God cares about the details, the “little” things. He fills the gap between our ability & His plan. He provides.
