Today is Five Minute Friday.  We are going to write about Graceful.  Here are the “instructions” from Lisa-Jo at the Gypsy Mama, where you can go to link up or read other encouraging posts of so many writing about Graceful.

1. Write for 5 minutes flat – no editing, no over thinking, no backtracking.
2. Link back here and invite others to join in.
3. And then absolutely, no ifs, ands or buts about it, you need to visit the person who linked up before you & encourage them in their comments. Seriously. That is, like, the rule. And the fun. And the heart of this community..

Oh and Ahem, if you would take pity and turn off comment verification, it would make leaving some love on your post that much easier for folks!

Okay – {taking deep breathes} here goes {this is scary to me :-), I don’t write well under pressure}

Graceful:

Graceful is something I want to be, but am not.  I think of graceful as easy going, relaxed, flowing.  Or I’d especially like to be GraceFUL; it is also a beautiful word to me. I don’t know what it is about the way the letters go together.

Graceful is something I ache to teach my daughter.

I want to teach her by example. But that is hard when you aren’t. How do you teach something you aren’t and you can’t force.  Because when you force graceful, you aren’t.  Ugh!  I want to show others Christ through me.  Again, much easier to do when extending grace, being grace full, or being graceful in motion.

When a girl is 12 I believe the opposite of graceful is glaringly obvious, yet it is also when you start to want to be “that girl” – the one in gymnastics, ballet, cheer – those are activities demonstrating graceful action or motion. For many, this is not attainable – lack of money, grace, confidence, or just plain old physical ability. How do I help her see it is so much better to be graceFULL in life?

{okay, I cheated a bit — but I was mid sentence… :-)} Come join us at Five Minute Friday.

…to prove my point at the beauty of the word ‘Graceful’ {yes, I realize it it is the font chosen – but I personally think she did an amazing job picking a font representing the meaning of the word}.  Here is a new book by Emily Freeman.  I just received my ‘Grace for the good-girl’ book & look forward to reading it, but this is a book written for high school girls.  Awesome!  I haven’t read the books yet, but I have read Emily’s blog.  I’m hooked.
